Exhibition realized by the Shoah Memorial, Paris

More than 50 years ago, Beate Klarsfeld slapped Federal Chancellor Kurt Georg Kiesinger in 1968 to draw attention to his National Socialist past. More than 40 years ago, Serge Klarsfeld published the memorial book for the deported French Jews (Mémorial de la déportation des Juifs de France) in 1978. For many decades to this day, Beate and Serge Klarsfeld have been campaigning to ensure that the crimes of the National Socialists are not forgotten and that the perpetrators are prosecuted.

Using numerous previously unpublished documents and also a few objects, the exhibition is documenting the fight of Beate and Serge Klarsfeld against oblivion and also traces the personal history of the Franco-German couple. The exhibition, which was first shown in Paris in 2017, has been completely revised by the Shoah Memorial and converted into a German edition in close cooperation with the Klarsfelds.
