On Thursday, 28 May 2026, the Topography of Terror Documentation Centre and the library will close at 4 p.m. due to an event taking place in the public space.

The library of the Topography of Terror is a publicly accessible specialist scientific resource. It currently contains approximately 40,000 media units, 100 current periodicals and 100 past periodicals. It is a non-lending library.

There are individual and group workspaces on site, computers for browsing the catalogue and researching in various databases, a media work station, a microform reader and a photocopier.

  • Focus Of the Collection

    The collection is focused on the SS, Gestapo and police under National Socialism. Further key areas are the state and society under National Socialism, the persecution and murder of European Jews and other groups of victims, the Second World War, the legal treatment of Nazi crimes, memorialisation and the culture of remembrance.

  • New Acquisitions

    The lists of new acquisitions are provided by the library to inform you about books and media that have been recently acquired.

  • Shelf Classification

    The collection is organised in systematically ordered open-shelves, for ease of access.

  • Provenance Research

    Since October 2023, the library of the Topography of Terror has been reviewing its collection for Nazi-looted property in a project funded by Deutsches Zentrum Kulturgutverluste (German Lost Art Foundation).

    On our computer workstations you have access to our licensed databases.

  • Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Gedenkstättenbibliotheken (AGGB)

    The library of the Topography of Terror is a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Gedenkstättenbibliotheken (Memorial Libraries Working Group).
