The library currently holds ca. 38,000 volumes, ca. 100 current periodicals and 100 completed periodicals.
The collection focuses on subjects generally related to the SS, Gestapo and police during National Socialism. Additional subject areas include the state and society under National Socialism, the persecution and murder of the European Jews and other victim groups, the Second World War, judicial prosecution of Nazi crimes, commemoration and memorialization.
The collection is systematically organized and freely accessible on open shelves. An online catalogue allows research to be conducted through the Internet. Subject searches are made easier by a comprehensive keyword index. The library offers both individual and group study areas. Computers provide access to the library catalogue and other databanks. A media station, microfiche reader and copy machine are also available to library visitors.
