The library of the Topography of Terror is a publicly accessible specialist scientific resource. It currently contains approximately 40,000 media units, 100 current periodicals and 100 past periodicals. It is a non-lending library. For inter-library loans, copies can be sent.

There are individual and group workspaces on site, computers for browsing the catalogue and researching in various databases, a media work station, a microform reader and a photocopier.

  • Focus Of the Collection

    The collection is focused on the SS, Gestapo and police under National Socialism. Further key areas are the state and society under National Socialism, the persecution and murder of European Jews and other groups of victims, the Second World War, the legal treatment of Nazi crimes, memorialisation and the culture of remembrance.

  • Shelving

    The collection is systematically shelved for ease of access and can be searched through using an online catalogue.

  • Memorial Libraries Working Group (AGGB)

    The Topography of Terror Library is a member of the Memorial Libraries Working Group (German acronym: AGGB).

    It supports the work and public acceptance of libraries in memorial sites and related institutions through cooperation, expert exchange and targeted educational measures. The shared online catalogue is a central project of the AGGB. The catalogue is looked after by Matthias Mann, German Resistance Memorial Centre.

    The libraries that make up the AGGB are associated with memorial sites dedicated to Nazi crimes, Nazi documentation centres and memorials and other institutions dealing with the legacy of the SED dictatorship in East Germany.
