Association of Memorial Site Libraries
The “Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Gedenkstättenbibliotheken” (Association of Memorial Site Libraries, AGGB) was created in 1998 on the joint initiative of the House of the Wannsee Conference Memorial and Educational Site and the Topography of Terror Foundation. Through cooperation, professional exchanges and specialized advanced training, it aims to support the work and acceptance of the libraries at memorial sites and other related institutions. Both the libraries of institutions as well as individuals make up the membership of the AGGB.
The libraries in the AGGB belong to memorials erected at sites of Nazi atrocities, documentation centers addressing National Socialism, memorials and other institutions addressing the SED dictatorship and contemporary history research institutes.
The AGGB held meetings twice a year until 2010: once in the spring during a three-day seminar and once in the fall as a work group of the memorial museum seminars organized by the Topography of Terror Foundation and other cooperation partners. As of 2011 only the three-day seminar in the spring takes place.
The Topography of Terror Foundation is responsible for the planning and organization of the meeting and oversees the homepage. One of the main projects of the AGGB is the joint online catalogue. The catalogue is looked after by Matthias Mann, House of the Wannsee Conference Memorial and Educational Site.
